Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the Floating Notes browser extension ("Extension") or accessing our website at floatingnotes.app ("Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.
Description of Service
Floating Notes is a browser extension that allows you to create and manage personal notes directly in your browser. Key characteristics:
- Core note-taking works locally in your browser without an account
- Optional Pro features may include account access, billing, Google Drive sync, advanced targeting, import/export, and related safety features
- Google Drive sync stores synced notes in your own Google Drive folder; browser storage keeps a full local replica for offline editing
- Some features are free and some features require a paid plan
User Responsibilities
When using Floating Notes, you agree to:
- Use the Extension only for lawful purposes
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
- Not redistribute, sell, or create derivative works based on the Extension
- Maintain access to your Google account and Drive files if you enable Google Drive sync
- Export or keep copies of important notes when appropriate
Subscriptions and Lifetime
Paid access is offered as recurring monthly or yearly subscriptions and as a one-time lifetime unlock. Purchase only inside the extension, from Account & plan; this website does not accept payments.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the selected interval until canceled. The price, billing interval and applicable taxes are shown before you confirm the purchase. Cancel through Account & plan → Manage billing to stop future renewals; paid access continues until the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the extension does not cancel your subscription.
Payments are processed by our third-party billing provider, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase. Google is not the seller of Pro plans.
Refunds for every payment, including the lifetime unlock, are governed by our Refund Policy: a full refund within 14 days of the purchase date, no questions asked.
What "lifetime" means. The lifetime unlock has no renewal date and no expiry date of its own. It lasts for the lifetime of the service: for as long as Kobaltstack LLC operates Floating Notes. It is not a perpetual guarantee that the service will be operated, and it does not survive discontinuation of the service. If the service is discontinued, the unlock ends with it.
It is tied to your account. The unlock is granted to the account that purchased it. It is not transferable, may not be sold, shared or assigned to another person or account, and does not create a licence that can be resold. Lifetime includes all Pro features without recurring charges.
If a payment is refunded, the access it paid for is withdrawn. Ending Pro access does not delete local notes; free features and JSON export remain available.
Intellectual Property
The Floating Notes Extension, including its code, design, and branding, is the proprietary property of Kobaltstack LLC and is protected by copyright law. All rights reserved.
Your notes and content remain yours. We do not claim any ownership or rights to the content you create using the Extension.
Data and Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Notice for information about how we handle data.
Important: Local-only notes and the local replica are controlled by your browser. Uninstalling the Extension or clearing browser data may delete local notes, including unsynced edits. If Google Drive sync is enabled, synced note files are controlled through your Google Drive account.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE EXTENSION AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Extension will meet your specific requirements
- The Extension will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Any errors in the Extension will be corrected
- Your data will be preserved indefinitely
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FLOATING NOTES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION OR WEBSITE.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Third-Party Services
The Extension operates within browsers provided by third parties (such as Google Chrome). Optional features may use Google Sign-In, Google Drive, and a payment provider. Your use of those services is subject to their terms. See Google Drive Sync and Data Controls for more detail about Drive sync.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser. We reserve the right to discontinue the Extension or Website at any time without notice.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Kobaltstack LLC, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will first be addressed through informal negotiation: contact us via Contact support. If it is not resolved within 60 days, either party may pursue the dispute through binding arbitration or another mutually agreed process. Mandatory consumer rights that apply by law remain unaffected.
